Drama, thy name is Fandom.
Seriously. I saw this in
domlijah, as I am certain many of you have, and a couple of LJers think it's wrong for someone to acknowledge, outside of the small world of the internet, the amusement that is DomLijah. Apparently, for those who can't be fucked following the link, some girl on TRL held up a sign that read something to the effect of DOM + ELIJAH = FOREVER.

I have to disagree. I think whoever did that took things a little bit too far. Something people have to realize is that the amount of people who see domlijah stuff on the internet amounts to maybe a few thousand people. The amount of people who saw that on MTV today is most likely in the millions.
It'd be one thing if Elijah had said something about him and Dom being together, or if we had some sort of substanstial proof that domlijah is more than just a preferred pairing to write about, but we don't. And what that person did was force a relationship ideal onto Elijah in front of millions. I know that sounds a bit harsh, but homosexuality is a touchy subject these days.
I'm not ragging on you for enjoying the poster, I just think that what happens on the internet stays on the internet. There's just a point where things get taken too far and, in my honest opinion, give fans a bad name.
Stars have enough of their privacy taken away from them as it is-especially child stars like Elijah-so the last thing they really need is people nosing about in their personal business.
And . . . in response to that:
actually I totally agree with (name of lj user). Of course the initial reaction for me would be a giggle, because we're all domlijah fans...But I don't think it's very wise to do that in public because, yeah, it's a touchy subject and we do not need to make it anymore touchy! And we don't have to emphasize even MORE about the homosexual rumours about Elijah. Because eventhough we're all for that idea, he may or may not be but it's bad for him either ways because of people in the media business....His whole life can be splurged in the papers and on the tv..So I guess it isn;t a very nice thing to do. Not mad at ya anyways btw.:)
Oh, I'm going to bed. Damn self-righteous slasherbints.
Edit: Yep. Fandom's Fucking Funny. One should never take for granted that all slash fans are female. My apologies. ;D
