Angry Rant is Angry. And Ranty.

Okay, I'm pissed off.
I witnessed this at work today, so I posted it on
customers_suck. Why? Because. Edit: Bahleeted by the Mod Squad.
Points people seem to be missing are:
- It was afternoon. Not quite dinner time by American standards.
- The father told the kid he couldn't have anything to eat until his school lunch the next day, because the kid didn't have any money of his own.
But I'm overreacting by saying I was concerned enough to want to call Social Services? Okay. It's the cases where no one calls because they don't want to overreact that you read about in the newspapers, people. If there is nothing going wrong in the family, they won't be bothered by a check-up, will they?
No, I didn't actually file a report, but I wanted to. I suppose you had to be there to see the situation, but it wasn't a kid throwing a wobbly because his daddy wouldn't buy him a sweetie. No, it was a kid asking why he couldn't have food, and being told it was because he wasn't a man. I stand by my feelings of outrage over the whole thing. So fuck off.
I had to stop getting notifications, because I could feel my anger rising over being told to mind my own business, and that I'm an idiot for being concerned.
Yeah, maybe wanting to file a report is a bit much, but like I said, what if? What if the only thing this child eats is school lunch? What if I had refused service as suggested, and the kid got punished for it because he was crying? What if no one shows a bit of concern, and the family are on the news for having abused their child to death because no one picked up a phone? I know, a lot of what ifs, but I believe gut instincts should be acknowledged, and my gut was telling me that something was off. It was the way the kid asked, as though he were afraid to. Can I say this as an edit in my post at
customers_suck? No, because adding pertinent details after the fact never goes down well there. Ever. My bad for not saying it in the first place, but people there have a hard enough time reading more than one sentence without declaring Teal Deer.
I reiterate: FUCK OFF.
